SBS Credit Card fees and charges are tailored according to the needs of Kiwis - they’re fair and reasonable; at the same time, competitive enough to give you a rewarding experience. While SBS don’t charge you an annual or a rewards fee, there is a purchase interest rate of 18.5% p.a., and a cash advance rate of 21.5% p.a. To qualify for a SBS Bank Credit Card, you’ll need to be a NZ citizen or permanent resident who’s above 18 years old, and who earns or receives a regular income. You’ll need to provide either a NZ passport or driver’s licence, or an overseas passport. Depending on your personal circumstances, additional criteria may apply, and you may be required to provide additional documents. Each month, you’ll need to pay the minimum amount due, which will be identified with a due date on your credit card statement. The minimum amount due will be $20 when the closing balance is less than $20, but if it’s above $20, you’ll be paying 3% of the outstanding balance of each charge rounded off to the nearest cent.
Yes - you can make repayments more than the balance that’s due each month. This actually puts you at an advantage, as you’ll be paying less interest and improving your credit history.
For security reasons, you can’t update your contact number through internet banking. This is because the bank uses your mobile number to send an authentication code to, for added security when you use some of their credit card services. Instead, you’ll need to make a phone call or visit the nearest branch during their business hours.
